Notably, El Paso's strategic geographical location further enhances its appeal by offering an abundance of opportunities for nearshoring, making it an attractive destination for aspiring entrepreneurs. 

Venture Community

El Paso's economic landscape is witnessing remarkable growth, with the venture capital community spearheading a transformative journey towards a more equitable, sustainable, and prosperous future. Noteworthy players like Viva Capital Funding, High Desert Capital, ABR Capital Funding Inc, GTIF Capital, and Sandbox Venture provide vital financial support to the region's entrepreneurs.

The recent accomplishment of the Ecotone Investment Fund, securing an impressive $3 million from 37 local investors in its inaugural round (2023), sets a positive precedent for the city's entrepreneurship scene. Additionally, entities like LiftFund are also contributing to this promising shift, as increasing funding opportunities become available to innovative startups and businesses in El Paso. These collaborative efforts are driving a surge in support, fostering a dynamic ecosystem that empowers local entrepreneurs and nurtures groundbreaking ideas.

The Texas Venture Crawl, the largest Texas event featuring the greater venture capital ecosystem of startup support, is hosted by Pioneers21, one of the first and longest running incubators in the region. Since 2011, P21 has housed and supported over 162 companies. P21 is a participant in the development of the emerging economy in El Paso by encouraging startups to innovate and launch ideas into self-sustaining businesses.

Business Environment

El Paso boasts a thriving business environment, fueled by coordinated efforts that target key industries such as advanced manufacturing, aerospace and defense, advanced logistics, tourism, life and healthcare, and business services. The city's small businesses are supported through initiatives like "Shop Local" campaigns, such as the Buy El Paso program, which encourages the community to invest in homegrown enterprises.

Additionally, as mentioned El Paso's strategic location offers abundant nearshoring opportunities, making it an attractive destination for businesses looking to tap into the benefits of proximity to global markets while enjoying the city's vibrant entrepreneurial landscape. 

General Culture

The city offers an exceptional quality of life, enriched by its vibrant cultural scene and a variety of essential assets. With a diverse Hispanic base population and a plethora of culturally steeped tourist venues like the Mission Trail, Downtown, historic neighborhoods, a historical streetcar system, theatres, and museums, residents enjoy a rich tapestry of experiences and traditions.

Texas Venture Fest: El Paso

Texas might be The Lone Star State, but we shouldn’t have lone star entrepreneurs. Register for El Paso’s Texas Venture Fest (formerly the Texas Venture Crawl) below.

This event started in 2022 in Austin, and was simultaneously hosted in 5 venues for 1,000+ attendees. In 2023 it grew to 10 cities, 15 venues, 40+ venture panelists, and 2,500+ attendees. Read more here.
